Lt. Benjamin Hunt, Rumford, Rhode Island 1791. The carver of this stone is George Allen of Rehoboth, Massachusetts. Most of his carved stones are found in Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. He carved intricate patterns into slate stones and is well known for his adorable cherubs, coats off arms, vines and flowers. The vines are a symbol of eternal blossoming and growth.
